ABSTRACT
Today’s cochlear implant recipients show relatively good performances in speech understanding, especially in quiet listening environments. Particularly, however, other areas such as music appreciation and speech understanding in noise and tonal languages, remain challenged for the cochlear implant industry. To address these challenges, MED-EL has recently worked with leading scientists to develop FineHearing and SmartSystem technologies. These are two groups of innovative technical capabilities suited for greater sound clarity and precision than those from previous ones. The details of current technological aspects on MED-EL system were reviewed in this article.
